My Secret Escape

     I will share my secret with you...only because I know it is that good! Who would have known that we have a natural hot spring here in LA?
     It is the ultimate escape from all the hustle and bustle of LA. The Beverly Hot Springs Spa is where you will find me after finals, a long day, and definitely on my birthday...and of course any other day I can make it in there.
     The balmy waters of the Hot Springs gush from a natural Artesian Well over 2,000 feet beneath the ground. The mineral water does wonders for your skin. They have a hot and cold pool as well as a steam room and sauna. As soon as you walk in there is this gorgeous waterfall and the place has a beautiful mineral scent to it. Last time I was there I had a full body scrub... and it was amazing. I left feeling quite polished. I have had several facials there as well. Ask for Kathy she is wonderful and very knowledgeable!!
     It is guys and one side and girls on the other, so you can bee free as a jay bird. Several times I have passed out in the ultra comfy lounge beds listening to the sounds of the waterfall and birds chirping. Definitely check it out because you just might fall in love with the place as I have.

You can find more info on their website:

BHS has not paid me in any way to write this post...this is all of my own free will and my own opinions.

Healthy Happy Sundays

-->
I absolutely love going to the local Farmers Market. I am fortunate enough to have that is one walking distance from my house every Sunday. I love the positive vibes, smiling people, the healthy environment, the smell of fresh fruits and veggies, the laughter and giggles from the balloon man making animal shapes… There are always lots of samples and new things to taste.

This week I went to the market with the intention of finding new foods to juice or add to my smoothies. I ended up stopping at a beans and lentil stand. I purchased a quarter pound of a couple of items: mung bean sprouts, sprouted trail mix and fresh pea shoots which he cut from the plant while I was standing there (doesn't get much fresher than that).
I started researching the benefits of living foods; sprouting your beans. Here is a really good article I found on the benefits of sprouting your foods: http://www.thenourishinggourmet.com/2009/01/why-sprout.html
The trail-mix I bought is absolutely delicious; it tastes so fresh. It consists of legumes, lentils, black beans red kidney beans, pinto beans… Here is a photo below.

  I then made a yummy fresh salad that contained: spinach, romaine lettuce, kale, pea shoots, mung sprouts, avocado, tomatoes, cucumber.

-->
Talk about protein and lots of vitamins and minerals in one meal!! I also ended up making a green smoothie with: avocado, wheat grass, spinach, kale, celery, cucumber and chia seeds. I put a little bit of raw honey to sweeten it up just a tad bit…yummy and nutritious! Happy Eating Everyone!!!

Gratitude Magic Dust

-->
"Think of gratitude's energy looking like magic dust, when you express gratitude to another person you are literally sprinkling them with magic dust!"
We all have the power to change the energy in our lives and be able to have a strong affect on those around us. A smile, a wave, a nod, a simple “thank you” can all be powerful gestures that not only affect the energy in you but also the person(s) your are directing it to.  Join in and sprinkle gratitude dust on everyone you come in contact with: our children, the mailman, the waiter, co-workers, the person stuck in traffic next to us, the valet boy… and change the energy that surrounds all of us.
The inspiration of today’s blog is from one of my favorite books “The Magic” by Rhonda Byrne. She has written two others that you might have heard of as well, “The Secret” and “The Power.” I have been physically able to see changes big and small in my life through changing my way of thinking from applying this book (The Magic) to my personal life. When you wake up in the morning, let your first thought be one of gratitude. And when you lie down at night, calm your mind with counting your day’s blessings.  I guarantee you will start to see a change in your own life. Its Magic :D

Small Excerpt about the book: ONE WORD CHANGES EVERYTHING
For more than twenty centuries, words within a sacred text have mystified, confused, and been misunderstood by almost all who read them. Only a very few people through history have realized that the words are a riddle, and that once you solve the riddle—once you uncover the mystery—a new world will appear before your eyes. In The Magic, Rhonda Byrne reveals this life-changing knowledge to the world. Then, on an incredible 28-day journey, she teaches you how to apply this knowledge in your everyday life. No matter who you are, no matter where you are, no matter what your current circumstances, The Magic is going to change your entire life!
I found it on Amazon for under $10 and have read a handful of times. It is easy reading and is very much worth your time.

I made my own Gratitude Necklace as a reminder to sprinkle magic on everyone. Find it on instagram.

A Bday to Share: #26actsofkindness

-->
“There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up.” – John Holmes

On that note, Welcome!!! I am very excited to share this blog with you all.  I can’t say I have the “words of wisdom of the century,” but I do feel I have some thoughts, ideas, or information that I would love to share with everyone.
            Its my birthday weekend and I wanted to start my blog today with this quote and show people how we can each make a difference in our own little way. I am turning 26, nothing too special about this number to me… but by the end of the day it is my hope that it will be a special number to at least 26 people across the country. Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone for partaking in my birthday celebrations and joining in our 26 Random Acts of Kindness.
            Email or text me your stories and pictures of how it went for you. I would love to read/post everyone’s experience.  And thank you once again for going out of your way to make an impact on someone’s day in a positive way !! Have a Beautiful weekend
            -Namaste

Kindness Boomerang - "One Day"

-->
One of my favorite short videos, that is a definite must see if you haven’t seen it already… and definitely worth a re-watch if you have. The butterfly effect, the boomerang, the ripple – it can be positive or negative…you decide. We all have the power to change the energy in our environment.

"When we are involved in acts of kindness, we realize how unbelievably amazing we are and that our value isn’t reliant on the amount of followers we have on instagram or Facebook, by the clothes we wear, or by how wealthy we are, but more importantly by the lives we touch, the impact and mark we leave on the lives of others.” -Orly Wahba

     Watch as the camera tracks an act of kindness as it’s passed from one individual to the next and manages to boomerang back to the person who set it into motion.  You can view the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwAYpLVyeFU
